Bangalore: With an aim to help motorists cut carbon emissions and improve fuel efficiency, Spanish Global Positioning Systems (GPS) developer Vexia has introduced its new range of in-car navigation devices. The 'Econav' range consists of four GPS devices that work in the same way as usual GPS systems, but they can also warn drivers on excessive braking and acceleration that can reduce fuel efficiency and increase carbon emissions. The devices come in different sizes and it can also advise drivers on when to change gears to maximize fuel efficiency and notify them when they are approaching or exceeding the speed limit, reports BusinessGreen.
The system then provides reports on a daily, weekly or monthly basis that can tell motorists on how much fuel and carbon they have saved. The technology combines conventional GPS systems with a database of over 8,000 car models, which the company says will help ensure that the emission and fuel efficiency data is personalized for each car. 'After our success in Spain, we're thrilled to be bringing the 'Econav' range to the UK,' says David Elder, UK Country Manager of Vexia, adding that the new 480 and 380 models will be sold through Amazon.com.
